BEWARE of Scrap IT Software Scam

BEWARE of Scrap IT Software scam if you are considering new software for your scrap metal recycling company. My company had the worst possible business experience with Scrap IT Software. Scrap IT Software could not do anything that its salesman, Lorne Cohen, said it could do. We went from doing transactions in 15-30 seconds with our former software program to doing the same transactions in 7-8 MINUTES with Scrap IT Software. We quickly had lines out the gate, down the street, and out the door, and we started losing business. Scrap IT Software has numerous programming and networking problems. We pulled the Scrap IT Software and its hardware out within 2 weeks of installing it. During those 2 weeks, Scrap IT Software's salesman, Lorne Cohen, claimed everything was fixed, but nothing was getting fixed, and the system was getting worse with continually more bugs and errors.

Scrap IT Software did not refund any of the $20,000 in returned hardware and software, which Lorne Cohen agreed to refund in writing. We have delivery confirmations on all of the returned hardware and we have numerous saved emails on record from Lorne in which he agreed to the refund. Scrap IT Software also has not taken us off of their list of clients and locations on their website.

Now Scrap IT Software advertises the "Scrap IT Challenge" on its website and at trade shows. They ask for a $5,000 deposit to try Scrap IT Software for 30 days, and they claim they will refund you $3,500 if you don't like it after 30 days. BEWARE. We deposited $20,000 and haven't been refunded one penny, and it has been almost a year since we returned the hardware and software.

We originally wanted to publicly sue Scrap IT Software and publish it in the scrap industry trade publications to help protect other scrap companies from being scammed as well, but that would have cost much more than the $25,000 that Scrap IT Software owes us, and we can inform the industry in other more effective ways.

Scrap IT Software appears attractive on the surface because it's cheap, offers low support and maintenance costs, and claims it can do everything and more than the other well known scrap software providers. The truth is Scrap IT Software is extremely risky and the people behind it are untrustworthy. There are many other good, affordable scrap software providers on the market.

Please feel free to call me if you are considering Scrap IT Software. I would be happy to share more details of our experience.
